Where We Come From, and How Long It Takes

We are based in Chase, in the valley at the outlet of Little Shuswap Lake, which puts us in the middle of the corridor rather than at one end of it. Kamloops is about forty minutes west on Highway 1 and Salmon Arm about thirty-five minutes east, with Sorrento, Blind Bay, Scotch Creek, Sicamous and Pritchard in between. For the properties between the two cities that usually means a shorter wait than calling a contractor who has to drive out from either one.

What Counts as an Emergency

The phone is answered around the clock, and these are the ones worth calling about immediately rather than waiting for morning. No heat in winter, because once the building cools the plumbing starts to freeze and a heating problem becomes a much more expensive one. A burst pipe or water you cannot stop, in which case shut the main off first and call second. A blocked main drain backing up into the house. No hot water in a rental or a property with guests in it. And any smell of gas, where the first call is to your gas utility's emergency line or 911 from outside the building, not to us.

Everything else is genuinely fine to book. A dripping tap, a slow drain, a furnace making a noise, a renovation you are thinking about for the spring: send it through the form and we will come back to you.

What to Have Ready

It helps enormously if you can tell us the make and model from the data plate on whatever has failed, whether the property is on natural gas, propane or electric, and whether it is on a municipal system or a well and septic. A photo of the appliance and its label answers most of what we would otherwise ask on the phone, and on a water heater or a furnace it often lets us tell you whether you are looking at a repair or a replacement before anyone drives anywhere.
